ACTUARUS

How it works

From the agreement between the parties to the release of funds, every step is locked by the code and timestamped.

The 4 steps

1

Agreement

Both parties set the terms together: price, condition, delivery conditions and compliance criteria. These terms are formalised in an electronic contract, signed by both parties via Yousign.

2

Lock-in

The buyer locks the funds into the smart contract, in tokens that can be pegged to the euro or the dollar via stablecoins. They're held by the code, beyond ACTUARUS's discretionary control.

3

Verification

The buyer inspects and receives the goods, then confirms they meet the conditions agreed in the contract. This confirmation triggers the next step.

4

Release

The smart contract automatically releases the funds to the seller. The transaction is closed, archived, and every step stays timestamped and viewable in the asset's history.

The contract drives the code

Every transaction rests on an electronic contract signed by both parties. Its clauses — compliance criteria, deadlines, release conditions — are what count: the smart contract executes nothing beyond what the parties signed. The electronic signature gives the contract its evidentiary, enforceable value; the code then executes it faithfully, with no interpretation and no discretionary intervention.

Proof and history

Every secured transfer is recorded in a tamper-proof history attached to the asset: successive owners, condition and compliance at the time of transfer. That history supports the asset's value at resale and provides full, enforceable traceability at any time.

How disputes are handled

A disagreement doesn't put the security of the transaction at risk.

  • Funds stay locked in the smart contract for the entire duration of the dispute.
  • Resolution follows the clauses of the contract signed by both parties.
  • An ACTUARUS arbitrator has 5 days to decide on a refund to the buyer or a release to the seller.
  • Every step — opening, review, decision — is timestamped and enforceable.
